ECCE
Our Early Childhood Care and Education program supports literacy from the beginning.
ECCE trains caregivers in early childhood care and education.
Pratham set up the ECCE center in 2007 to share all that we have learned running our successful balwadi program. Over the years, we’ve trained thousands of volunteers and preschool teachers. Through ECCE’s formalized structure, we have been able to train people and spread our knowledge effectively.
We provide quality instruction to the groups who need it most.
ECCE trains government and private pre-school teachers as well as volunteers from within the community. Additionally, we provide information to mothers from urban and rural areas to help them improve the education and health of their children.
ECCE assists educators from the private and nonprofit sectors.
Our center is helping to strengthen the government’s pre-school program. Pratham collaborates with the Indian government’s Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to train Anganwadi workers (childcare providers employed by the government.) Through ECCE, Pratham also promotes entrepreneurial efforts in the field of early childhood care.
Pratham’s ECCE centers and training methods are spreading.
Our centers have been established in Maharashtra, Hyderabad and Allahabad and efforts are underway to set up additional centers throughout India.
