World Music Night A Big Success!

The benefit concert, World Music Night, hosted by Sam Jones' advisory on Saturday evening was a great success. With an attendance of over 60 people and follow-up post event, we hope to provide a full year's education to 120 children at an urban learning center in India, where the Khabele School would be recognized as their benefactor.

Apart from raising funds for education as part of Khabele's One-4-One project, our spirits were elevated by the magical music of Ustad Nizami, his amazingly talented 12-year-old son, and two of our equally talented musicians, Paul Robalino and Grant Sides. We also enjoyed exquisite Indian dishes donated by Bombay Bistro's South location, and satisfied our sweet teeth with the flaky baklava donated by Sweetish Hill Bakery, and with homemade cookies. Some of us even took home a souvenir: artistic hand, leg, and shoulder tattoos painted with henna by Afifa Nizami.

Many thanks to Ustad Nizami and musicians; to the Pratham organization, especially Ashish Gupta, Mamata Misra and Divya Walia for their organizational support and guidance, and for coming to the concert to share Pratham's success stories and on-going projects and dreams; and to our volunteer parents, Beth Hitt, MaryAnn Robalino and Cindy Mirassou.
