TiE DC & Pratham DC host reception with Dr. Madhav Chavan

On Friday April 6, 2012 Pratham DC and TiE DC shared an evening reception with Dr. Madhav Chavan (CEO and Co-Founder of Pratham) at the Bombay Tandoor Restaurant in Vienna, Virginia. The event was by invite only for TiE DC Charter members and Pratham participants and was attended by 60+ people.

Pratham was represented by DC Board Members (Mahalingam Ramesh, Chitra Ramesh, Ram Karuppasamy, Neeraj Vohra, Harriet Bessel, Narendra Ganti, and Sheena Gill) a well as  Anamara Baig from Pratham India & Sangita Karra from Pratham USA.  TiE DC was represented by President Dolly Oberoi, and Board Members Prashant Kothari, Pallabi Saboo, Pradeep Wahi, Sandeep Somaiya, Sheena Gill and TYE DC sponsor (Infinite Computer Solution’s representative) Ashoka Tankala.

Dr. Madhav Chavan shared the journey of Pratham since its inception in the slums of Mumbai in 1994, detailing how Pratham has reached 34 million children in less than 2 decades. He also shared the impact of the remarkable direct programs Pratham has embarked upon including community libraries,  pre-schools, remedial learning programs, vocational programs, even an entrepreneurship program— which together reach hundreds of thousands of children every year. The attendees engaged in a very interactive and important open dialogue with Dr. Chavan inquiring about Pratham’s progress and providing suggestions for the future roadmap of Pratham.  Pratham thanks all of the participants for attending the evening reception and engaging in this very important cause.  Thank you to event sponsor, The Chugh Firm, APC.
