NC-Raleigh-RTP Gala 2011

The 6thAnnual Pratham Gala for the Raleigh Chapter was held at Raleigh Hilton on September 17th. This year’s gala had Mr.Parag Mehta, Communications Director from  US Labor department a the key note speaker. The evening started with Lighting of the lamp by Mrs. Sudha Rathie, Advisor and Mrs. Farmah , wife of Gala committee chair & BOD Mr.Raj Farmah. Pratham NC report was presented by the President Mr.Gunvant Bhakta.  Pratham NC supports 11 districts and the chapter accomplishments were recounted to the supporters. Mr. Parag Mehta, Communication Director at Federal Dept. of Labor,  key note speaker set the tone for the evening with an inspirational speech which was well received by the guests. His note gave a 3 step take away for the Indian immigrant population which will benefit  our adopted and birth countries. He recounted his experience as a middle schooler aiming for the rolling spelling bee cup brought rolls of laughter from the guests.

Mr. Rahul Bose who was slated to be part of the gala could not make it due to schedule conflicts but his message through a video recording showcased the passion he has for Pratham and his belief in Pratham as a transparent organization.

The Emcee of the evening was Mrs.Chaya Rao, a very well known face to the Pratham Raleigh community. The gala raised $150000 from Pratham NC with over $13000 coming in pledges from the evening.

The evening’s festivities included the music of Mumbai Masti who rocked the evening with music from yesteryear to hits of today, the guests set the dance floor on fire. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Lavanya Sridharan, the VP of Pratham Raleigh chapter.

Overall this Gala was a wonderful evening of celebration benefiting kids in India and helping humanity all over as education is the key to change.
