Houston Gala 2011

The Pratham Houston Gala held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, captivated audiences of  over 750 guests who gathered at the Westin Galleria Hotel to raise over $700,000 towards sponsorship for children's education in India. 

After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Mayor Annise Parker and Honorary Chair Ann Montgomery, Emcees Meena Datt and Rishi Reddy, got the program under way.  Mayor Annise Parker gave the inaugural address and Sonu Anand, President, Pratham Houston, spoke of her visit to a Pratham school in Bhopal, where she was moved by the sight of the hopeful kids who wanted to become doctors, engineers and teachers.

Honorary Chair John Montgomery urged the guests to make wise choices in life and to get into the spirit of giving.  Incoming President of Pratham Houston, Swatantra Jain, stressed on the importance of education and encouraged the audience to help the underprivileged children and make a difference in their lives.

The highlights of the evening included a spectacular, professionally cheoreographed  fashion show with exquisite outfits created by five talented Houston designers and a live action conducted by Dr. Subodh Bhuchar.
