Charlotte Gala 2011

The 2nd Annual Pratham Gala for the Charlotte Chapter was held at Hilton at Unversity Place  on September 16th.  Key note speaker  Mr. Parag Mehta, Communication Director at Federal Dept. of Labor,   set the tone for the evening with an inspirational speech which was well received by the guests. His note gave a 3 step take away for the Indian immigrant population which will benefit  our adopted and birth countries. He recounted his experience as a middle schooler aiming for the rolling spelling bee cup brought rolls of laughter from the guests.

Mr. Rahul Bose who was slated to be part of the gala could not make it due to schedule conflicts but his message through a video recording showcased the passion he has for Pratham and his belief in Pratham as a transparent organization.  The next President(2011-12) of the Charlotte Chapter, Kamal Patel was introduced to the Charlotte community.

The Emcee of the evening was Mr. Divakar Shukla, Owner of Sathee Magazine,  a very well known person in Charlotte community. The gala raised $100,377 Pratham NC with equal matching funds.

The evening’s festivities included the music of Mumbai Masti who rocked the evening with music from yesteryear to hits of today, the guests set the dance floor on fire.

Overall this Gala was a wonderful evening of celebration benefiting kids in India and helping humanity all over as education is the key to change.
