Remedial Learning Program
Pratham’s remedial learning programs are designed to develop and strengthen reading, writing and arithmetic skills among children of age 6 and above. These classes cover children who are enrolled in school but not keeping up with their grade level and children who are not enrolled in schools. There are two phases: In Learning to Read (L2R), children learn basic literacy and numeracy skills. In Reading to Learn (R2L), children learn more advanced skills.
Key achievements in 2008-09
- More than 476,000 children attended 7,514 learning support classes.
- Pratham also conducted scholarship classes in Delhi and Maharashtra to help children in grades 4 and 7 prepare for the mandatory scholarship exams held by the respective state governments. 10,347 children attended these classes.
